Jim Harris

With over 20 years in real estate and roots in a family business, Jim Harris has seen firsthand how impactful a home can be—for individuals, families, and the communities we serve. At TradeMark Residential, where the mission is to Love our Neighbors, he helps lead growth across multiple markets and services including leasing, management, renovations, sales, maintenance, and investments. As a Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM), Jim brings strategic insight to operations and long-term value creation. He has also served as Board Chair of the American Red Cross of North Carolina, as a board member of the Raleigh Chamber, and with Faither Builders Carolinas. Family is a top priority for Jim. He’s grateful for his wife and two daughters, who keep the family busy with school and competitive dance. Together, they enjoy traveling and spending time with their dogs.

Robert Hodge brings 30 years of experience in multifamily property operations, acquisitions, and capital improvements. He has led major acquisitions, management and project management efforts, including property repositioning and lease-ups of traditional, boutique and mid-rise communities across the Southeast. His goal is to create win-win relationships with property partners who truly care about their local communities. Outside of work, Robert is dedicated to his family. He and his wife homeschool their two youngest sons, and enjoy staying active in their sports and local activities. The Hodges also celebrate the accomplishments of their older children.

Ed Batchelor brings over 50 years of experience in multifamily and single-family home property operations, leasing, maintenance, acquisitions, dispositions, sales, and capital improvements. He served as President of TradeMark Residential from 2007 until July 2022. Today, Ed works closely with the accounting team and serves as a consultant to members of the company’s outstanding team. Family is a very important part of Ed’s life. He loves spending time with his wife, two children, and four grandchildren.

John B. (Bo) is the Managing Member and Broker-in-Charge for Capital Investments Realty, LLC, which he founded in 2009. A Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) and Certified Real Estate Strategist specializing in investment residential and multi-family properties. He responsibilities include brokerage, buying, selling, property management, property management maintenance and day-to-day operations of the business. Bo sold the Property Management Division of Capital Investments Realty, LLC to TradeMark Residential in 2015.

Bo graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BS in Business Administration. He earned the Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) designation by the CCIM Institute in 2008 and served on the Board of Directors for the local chapter of the American Red Cross. He currently serves on The Caring Community Foundation Board and the NC CCIM Chapter Board of Directors as the President. Bo volunteered over 40 years with Boy Scouts of America, is an Eagle Scout and Vigil in the Order of the Arrow. Bo is an avid tennis player and enjoys playing golf. Bo has been married to Linda for 48 years and have 2 grown sons, Roger, (who is married to Erin, and granddaughter, Beatrice) and Henry, (who is married to Lauren).

On January 1, 2005, Kim joined V.G. Murray & Co., where she continued to grow her knowledge and experience in property management. Most recently, she became part of the Trademark Residential team on July 1, 2024, where she is thriving, enjoying the people, and embracing every opportunity to learn. Kim has always found joy in helping others and believes that every problem has a solution—or at the very least, a way to make it better. Outside of work, Kim is a proud wife, mother to two wonderful daughters, mother-in-law to a great son-in-law, and grandmother to two energetic grandsons. She enjoys spending time with her family, catching up with friends, exploring new places, and occasionally joining in on various sporting activities.

How It Went. How It’s Going

In 1984, we were HPW Property Management.

Billie Redmond founded the company as HPW Property Management, with a vision to provide top-notch property management services in Raleigh, Durham, and the entire Triangle area. The company grew over the next few years, establishing a reputation for professionalism and dedication to its clients.

In 1990, we Became TradeMark

The TradeMark name emerged in 1990, as TradeMark Properties. With the new name came a renewed commitment to excellence and a drive to make a lasting impact in the property management industry.

In 1993, we Became TradeMark Residential

Another transformation led to the name TradeMark Residential Properties, and this is when the company emerged as a leading property management company in Raleigh, Durham, and the Triangle.

2015: Same Family. New Leadership

Jim Harris and Ed Batchelor assumed ownership in 2015, infusing the company with new energy and innovative ideas into operations. Their vision was to build on the foundation established by Billie Redmond and to take the company to new levels of community impact.

2023: The Future is Now

Trademark Residential moved to a new headquarters in 2023, and we’re now in Campus North, which provides us with a perfect environment for our team to thrive and continue working towards our vision. We’re now in 10 markets, managing more than 3,900 doors, and committed to the same mission that started our company in 1984.
